They're BACK!

Those corn-stealer people are back!

Shoo! Go Away! Virgil, I may need some back-up....

*later* Thank goodness, they're gone now! I must have scared them off again. Now I can jump down from the fence.

Silhouetted Saturday

Today, I'm recovering from all the tractor snoopervision I did this week.

That combine was at it till the (sort of) wee hours of the night. Then, they just packed up and left again, never to chew off my corn again. Today, a tractor was tilling up the ground, but he got stuck in the mud! Another tractor had to come to its rescue and pull it out. When you think of tractors, they're supposed to be tuff and strong, but once its stuck, all you've got is about 1 ton of useless, helpless rubber and metal. Kinda funny, isn't it?

Have a relaxing weekend, everybuddy. I'll leave you with some nice relaxing pictures to get you in the mindset.

Monitoring Monday

Those combines were at my corn again this evening, whacking it off! After doing a big chunk of our field, they left for home early again.

I was up on the fence demonstrating my feline prowess, and it must have scared them because they didn't want to get me mad by taking my corn away. Or it could be my humans theory, that the field is too wet and they don't want to get their combine stuck. But I kinda doubt that.

PS Thanks for voting for me in Hansel's Halloween Spooktacular! We had fun seeing all the cute and creative entries, and we hope you did too! You can click on the badge to see the winners of all the categories.

Cornfield Harvesters!

Well, yesterday the people who planted the corn around our house started combining corn! They went twice around the field, and then they packed up everything and left. I guess they feared getting me mad if they took all the corn away.

You can see how truly humongous this combine is. The yellow pile on the top of the machine is a ton of little kernels of corn. That's alot of corn, cats. Cool, huh?

Fun Fact Friday

Do you see me?

One thing we like about living in the country is the cornfields next to our house. It gives me many places to explore, and many scents to smell. My human likes to search for animal tracks on the soft ground. I think my human found some raccoon tracks (!), and some cat tracks.

And here's your fun fact about corn: Right now, our corn is about full grown in height. It's about 9 feet tall!

Tractor Tuesday

This Tuesday, there is a different kind of machine "trespasser". And, unlike last weeks trespasser, this one does not appear to be edible!

The land near my house is being overrun with large, very noisy machines! "What are they doing and what right do they have to be messing around here!?!?" I asked my human. I was told that first they tilled the soil, as seen in this picture. Then, as we are blogging, they are now planting the corn seed. Then, the corn will grow, and in the fall they will harvest the corn.

But, corn or no corn, I am trying to be a brave kitty and will be happy when these tractors leave. Do you have any advise for making these monsters go away? I still go outside and when a tractor comes near the yard, I stare at it. Playing brave is tough, but so far I'm pulling it off. Wish me luck!

The Big Guys

Yesterday and today, we've been having a bunch of big combines invading my turf. They are like lawn cutting monsters except about 100 times bigger. And freakier. But my bean was really happy with how cool I was with all sorts of machinery rolling around. I slept through most of it, actually. Hehehe. My bean said that most cats, like my family's past cats, went nutso. Hey, just call me the cool one. :)

(Later, to self:) Oops, looks like I need to work on my ego downsizing project again.

Anyway, here I was, all along, having no clue that I was living basically surrounded by a cornfield. Now, it's wide open spaces all around.
